1910s 1920s A Woman's Error - Charlotte Brame Book

Antique hardback edition (Associated Newspapers Ltd, London). Possibly a little earlier/later than the 1910s-1920s. The fictional story is about the ups, downs & romances of the characters. Charlotte Mary Brame (1836-1884) was a successful English Victorian author who sadly lost a lot of her earnings through piracy as well as having a hard life. Only four of her seven children survived to adulthood and her alcoholic husband meant she had to use her writing to bring in money to support the family. To add to the sadness, at her death she owed money and her children were taken into guardianship as well as her husband taking his own life in 1886. She was extremely well loved as a writer and wrote hundreds of stories although they were mainly printed in cheap London papers during her lifetime. Lots of wear to the cover, some marked/crinkled pages from poor storage, the cover's spine is mainly missing (someone has attempted to sew it back in place at the bottom!), pages are loosely joined to the remaining spine, a front page corner is torn, a name is written inside & the back page has peeled from the cover/has red colour transfer from the dye. Still readable & held together....more
