Adorable example of 1950s kitsch, this vase was made by Crown Ducal, created for the Ringtons tea company in England. ‘Petit Pierre’ depicts a popular subject for 1950s kitsch artists - a street urchin in a Parisian market. He looks very jaunty in his neckerchief, straw hat and patched trousers! The glaze on this is so tactile - very satin smooth, a bit like Poole pottery. Measures 6”/15cm high. In excellent vintage condition. The inside is not discoloured, and overall no chips, nibbles etc, no wear to decoration....more
