1970 Framed Modernist Oil Painting Lake Land

A brilliantly executed modernist landscape composition in oil, painted in 1970. In this picture, two boats sit in shallow waters, and behind them we see a small cottage that is backed by mountains. The artist has painted in distinctly separate planes of colour, using a tiered effect of complementary colours that gives the composition its depth. The palette is restrained, dominated mainly by blues, yellows, greys and browns. The brushstrokes are visible, giving us a sense of the artist’s process of creation as well as giving the painting a textured effect. The painting has a very restful ambience to it, and would be such a fine addition to any interior. The painting is housed in a lovely mid century wood frame with an inner gilt border. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.
