Vintage Bentwood Rocking Chair in the style of Thonet, and purchased through Habitat in the 1970s. This iconic design was a firm favourite in the Habitat catalogue at this time, but actually dates from almost a century earlier - the 1880s - when the Austrian based firm set up by Michel Thonet (1796-1871) and continued by his five sons, first patented and then refined the manufacture of Bentwood furniture. The Rocking Chair was made for Habitat by Dinette of Aylesbury (blue label to the underside of seat rim) in a natural pale finish, and is in very good vintage condition in line with age and usage. There are some historic water marks to the arms and frame, but these are cosmetic and the chair itself is solid with a beautifully smooth rocking motion. The caning is taut and sound, with no loss, breaks or sagging. Delivery cost is an estimate. Please DM giving your postcode before placing an order for actual delivery cost.
