2 X Vintage Pearson’s of Chesterfield Individual Glazed Casserole Dishes with Lids Two gorgeous little individual lidded casserole dishes from the world famous Pearson’s of Chesterfield. The pots are treacle brown and both lids have an embossed circle patten and knob. The pots are stamped on the base with the maker’s mark – Pearson’s of Chesterfield - Est. 1810 – Made on England and are oven, freezer, microwave and dishwasher safe. The dish could be used as an individual cooking pot for casserole, crumbles or soup but would equally make a perfect pot for cold sauces e.g. apple, mint, bread etc. The pottery works were on the south side of Pottery Lane, Chesterfield (today "Pottery Lane East”) on the OS 1883 map and consisted of a number of buildings around a central yard. There is an abundance of clay in the area and this, allied to the nearby coal, led to many potteries being established.
