50's Large Vintage Smiths 8 Day Wall Clock - 12′′

A fabulous large Bakelite wall clock produced by Smiths during the 1950's. The 8 day wind up clock is in working order producing a lovely resounding tick. During the course of its time, this once brown Bakelite casing has been overpainted in white. Up close, it is not the most professional job with visible paint lines, some overlap on the glass front and the odd brush hair captured within the casing finish. This would look far better at a distance when wall mounted or could be restored to its original colour (which can be seen on the rear). The glass front is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks and the clock face and hands are also in great order. The clock casing features the odd paint chip on the perimeter. The rear of the clock provides the regulator instructions with a lever to slow or speed up the mechanism in order to assist accurate timekeeping. This area is most prone to age with rust present on the metal wall fixing and mechanism.
