Designed by Alan Compton Luckham for Royal Norfolk Pottery, in the early 1950s Designed after the Festival of Britain at London’s Southbank. which influenced so many young British designers if the time. You can see both the influence of Scandinavian modernism, and the vernacular design from the British colonies - all of whom were exhibited at the Festival. The festival also encouraged ‘studio pottery’ lines in many large commercial ceramics companies. Alan Compton Luckham later moved to Hornsea Pottery, where he became better known for similar relief moulded Neoclassical inspired vases.
