An antique framed, colour, botanical book plate from 'Roses and their Culture' by W.D Prior 1886. New, gold, wooden frame with hanging attachment. The book plate depicts the rose 'La France'. This is an old French rose, first introduced in 1867, which is still in cultivation today. 'La France' is a historically important rose because it was the first to be classed as a Hybrid Tea. The illustration is beautifully coloured and complemented by a simple gold frame. It would work well in a contemporary or vinatge interior and makes the perfect gift for gardeners and rose lovers. Frame size: 18.3cm high, 12.3cm wide, 1.7cm deep. Frame opening: 15cm high, 9cm wide. Condition: Book plates are in excellent antique condition. Custom frames are new.
