Victorian leather bound Oxford edition of The Church Of England's "The Book Of Common Prayer Together With The Psalter Or Psalms Of David". Circa 1890s, possibly earlier, based on the era of the Oxford University Press coat of arms. An instructional book for Christian bishops, priests and deacons. It features a black leather cover with golden text on the spine, orange-red page edges and an embossed/tooled cross on the front and thin border that covers the whole book. The cover has wear/creases/marks, their are page marks/some wrinkling/some are slightly loose or are coming away from the spine (none missing or fully detached), some writing penciled on one of the front pages, the black front & back pages that join to the cover have wear/marks on them & have slightly detached from the cover in places and their is a slight musty smell from previous poor storage. Still very much readable and in a usable condition; just well used in the past 130+ years!...more
