This stunning antique pedastalled comport is dated at the base 1885, and is the work of the Burgess and Leigh pottery company which operated out of Hill Pottery, Burslem, in the late 19th century. The transfer pattern, known as fruit, is a beautiful and very typically Victorian depiction of plums and rasberries in muted greens, yellows and dark pinks. It's in amazing condition for its age, but there is subtle age-related crazing to its surface and a number of small marks and areas of discolouration, which are evidenced in the close-ups, and one small, very shallow chip to the base of the pedastal, which can be seen in picture 4. #antique #fruitbowl #comport #Hillpottery #burgessandleigh...more
