Beautiful and unusual antique Gothic design, intricately carved and featuring a fold down shelf that's supported by a single gated leg. I think this shelf was designed for a candle to sit on, the mirror reflecting the light into the room. There is no wall fixing attached but something decorative could be added (I've just hung it with some colourful twine to photograph) or it could be hung directly from the carving. As with all my vintage pieces this has bumps and blemishes that reflect its previous life adding to its character and charm - there are a couple of losses to the carving and significant signs of historic woodworm (I've treated this as a precaution).
