Beautiful deep chestnut lacquered antique Chinese hat box with blue interior and lovely bronze hinge and latch. These boxes are formed from bent wood and covered with stitched leather. It's been gently cleaned and lightly buffed - the interior has also been thoroughly cleaned. It's perfect as decorative storage or as statement collector's piece. As with all my vintage and antique pieces this has bumps and blemishes that reflect its previous life adding to its character and charm - there are minor dinks and wear to the exterior and the lid dips slightly on one side but closes and functions as intended. The interior has some marks and wear to what looks like a hessian type lining but it's now clean and perfectly usable for storage. The lovely hinge has a pin that allows the lid to be removed if desired, both this and the latch have patina and some attractive verdigris. The outer base has some wear as pictured.
