Antique oak 16th century mule chest coffer. A fantastic looking Oak coffer that offers an inordinate amount of storage, simple in design as was the style of the era, the highly decorative coffers were often later or were carved by the Victorians at a later date as was there preference, this retains its simple charm. Wonderful patina, panelled front, single plank top, original single plank oak base and original split iron wire hinges. Due to the great age there are some cosmetic issues as would be expected, some wood shrinkage as can be seen on the top, to the rear of both sides there has been a piece cut out, the right side larger than the left I'm assuming to fit over skirting or pipes, the central hinge to the lid is missing which has no effect on use or stability, signs of historic woodworm which has been fully treated.
