Antique Oak Arts and Crafts Corner Cabinet

This beautiful antique corner cabinet has its original label on the back of the door; it was made by the Home Arts Industries Association which dates it to the late 1880s to early 1900s. The Home Arts and Industries Association was a key part of the Arts and Crafts movement in Britain. It was formed in 1884 and its mission was to revive traditional crafts to help overcome poverty in rural areas. The carving on the front of the door features birds, branches and what appears to be a daffodil in the centre; it's beautifully intricate and detailed. The entire cabinet has been carefully cleaned and rejuvenated then nourished with beeswax. As with all my antique pieces this has evidence of its previous life adding to its character and charm - the cabinet is in great condition given its age, it has a few dinks in both outer edges of the back panel and a couple of the decorative scallops on the base have been lost. inside there are a couple of marks on the surfaces that may be ink.
