Beautiful panel of embroidered antique silk in an ornate wooden frame. The design features gorgeous flowers; I can identify lily of the valley, a rose, sweet peas and bluebells which represent amongst other things everlasting love, purity, joy, sincerity, happiness, luck and gratitude! The other flowers are possibly peony and agapanthus. It has a lovely aged, time faded look and is likely to be unique - I imagine the silk has been saved from a larger piece or embroidered as a gift and framed by an individual for whom it had huge sentimental value alongside its decorative appeal. As with all my antique and vintage pieces this has evidence of its previous life adding to its character and charm - this has wear and losses to the frame and some of the edges of the silk panel are distressed.
