Charming framed Victorian ceramic tile for hanging. The pansy design is partially a transfer and part hand painted. To the Victorians, the “language” of flowers was very important, and a flower gift would be carefully considered. Pansies symbolised love, sometimes forbidden or secret love. They also represent thoughtfulness and compassion. Including frame, measurements are 21.5cm on each side. The frame has been a more modern addition, I’d say from the 1970’s or 1980’s, but it works well to display this lovely tile.
