Antique Wood & Copper Bolt Stamp John Wild Bolton

This heavy and solid antique (circa 1920s) bolt stamp or printing block was handmade by John Wild who had work premises in Bolton and Manchester The wood is most probably Sycamore and the copper strips make up the very detailed image of a man on horseback carrying a spear. The word or place name of “Chorley” is to the side of lower front horses leg Bolt stamps were used on cloth to identify the manufacturers To the back is a chain for wall mounting John Wild makers mark to bottom of base The condition of this antique item looks to be fabulous, I have made no attempt to clean or polish the copper, other than a light dusting, so this is in it’s found condition Height 25.5cm Length 24.5cm Width including copper strips 5.5cm Please note that most of my items are Antique or Vintage and therefore may come with some signs of usage for example minor surface wear I will always detail any chips, cracks or faults Please see all photos as they do form part of the description Thank you so much for visiting...more
