This lovely and unusual art deco rectangular handled dish has a beautiful floral pattern handpainted in bold colours, wavy edges and gilt trim. It seems quite unique, as I've been unable to find anything similar online - consequently I am unsure what its specific original purpose was. The maker is unknown and the backstamp 'Davenport' is not to be confused with the famed ceramics firm whose output was much earlier on - however, perhaps the pattern was named thus by way of tribute. For its age, it is in good condition. There is some fine crazing to the base and some smudgy areas of glaze, as well as some small marks to the inside.
