The table is a beautiful piece of design history, which is also part of the Victoria and Albert collection. Originally designed by Lewis as part of the CC41 Utility Furniture enterprise which operated after the 2nd World War in the UK. Led by key designers in all fields of design, to produce good design and not waste precious natural resources in their production. The Utility Scheme ran from 1941, until its end in 1952. The table was sold in the new Liberty store; opened for modern and modernist furniture, in London. And was part of a central window display at the Festival of Britain, in London 1950. This table is a thoughtfully restored original which still bears the CC41 stamp on the underside. And the makers number handwritten. A wonderful small side table which is a piece of design history. Great vintage condition with bumps and marks commensurate with its age. Enjoy. Maximum approximate dimensions : height - 29cm ; length - 56cm ; width - 32cm...more
