Stunning gothic inspired antique or vintage brass griffin candlesticks with red glass eyes. In Greek mythology they guarded treasures and priceless artefacts and were symbolic of power, wealth, courage and prestige. As with all my vintage and antique pieces these have evidence of their previous life adding to their character and charm - the candlesticks are generally in great condition, there is some surface patina that adds more depth and definition to the features and some verdigris in places. The feet of one of the griffins are wider apart than the others, the collar under the candle holder on the same one has some movement but is secure. Neither of the holders sits perfectly vertically.
