British Art Studio Pottery Stoneware Vase - Newton

This is a really beautiful medium sized vintage vase. Purchased approx 30 years ago from Royal Albert Docks, Liverpool. I’ve researched and I believe the vase was made by Alan Newton and decorated with a tree pattern by his wife Lyn Newton. Working in Wirral, Merseyside, Alan and Lyn Newton are studio potters specialising in various stoneware clays and porcelain. Lyn’s delicate painting, originally in watercolour, founds its way onto the pots using oxides and glazes. Her brushwork enhances Alan’s shapes. Their pieces are now becoming sought after with British studio pottery collectors. The tree has stunning iridescent blue glaze and features on both sides of the vase. A one-off hand painted collectors piece. Makers initials on the side: LN This piece is showing signs of use and wear (commensurate with age) but is otherwise in excellent vintage condition.
