Elegant small vase by John Beusmans of the Cornish Carn Pottery. 1970's From his N series, this is form N22, and it displays Beusmans modernist style perfectly. A wonderfully tactile little piece, with a textured raised surface design - simple abstract elliptical design on one side, and a naive sunflower on the other. Measures approximately 12cm tall. In great condition. Stamped on the base with the Carn stamp and N22. Beusmans was inspired by the Cornish landscape and seascape, and there are also echoes of the county's old industrial mining architecture in this piece. The subtle colours result from a process of oxidation. Beusmans established Carn pottery at Nancledra, Cornwall, in 1971.
