Chinese Hand Decorated Clay Pumpkin Teapot

This unique little Chinese clay teapot is in the shape of a pumpkin and is in an unglazed pale terracotta colour. It is beautifully decorated on one side with a hand engraved and painted illustration of a bird sitting on the branch of a plum blossom tree all in realistic natural colouring. On the opposite side is Chinese writing and there is a makers mark on the base which is partly faded. The lid has a pumpkin stalk handle and is quadrant shape sitting perfectly onto the teapot. It is about 8cm tall to the top of the handle and about 18cm from spout to handle. It is in excellent condition and seems unused and has probably just been used for display.
