Stunning Chinese stacking hat boxes with vibrant red lacquered exterior and rust red interior (possibly Qing Dynasty but I think a little later as these don't appear to be leather coated, but lacquered papier mache type material so I'd guess early to mid 1900s) The boxes have been gently cleaned and lightly buffed - they have a lovely glossy sheen. They are perfect as decorative storage or as a statement piece. As with all my vintage and antique pieces this has bumps and blemishes that reflect its previous life adding to its character and charm - there are minor dinks and wear to the surfaces and the middle box has a minor inconsistency in the lacquer (see picture) but all boxes are intact and the lids, hinges and lovely brass clasps, function as intended.
