Cocktail Cabinet. Painted entirely by hand.

This is a stunning, Handpainted vintage Queen Anne reproduction cocktail cabinet, constructed in the 1960’s and made of solid hardwood. The entire piece is in immaculate original condition, although I have rewired the plug to confirm to current standard requirements. Meticulous preparation forms the basis of my creative process. Function is as important to me as form and everything works exactly as it should, ready for another lifetime! I have used black chalk paint over a Chinese red primer to create an antique, textured finish which has then been protected by black wax for extra durability. The application of the protective wax also enhances the antique texture of the paint. Artistic influences are Utamaro for the classical style of visual representation with Gustave Klimt providing the design aesthetic. Random fragments of classical calligraphy and koi carp in gold leaf gilding complete the interior scheme. A totally unique statement piece, entirely original - only this one exists!
