This is another design classic of the so called 'Brussels Style', adopted by many Czech households after the successful Expo 1958 in Brussels where Czechoslovakia won 13 prizes including one in the furniture category. This Coffee Table was designed by Jiri Jiroutek and was produced by Cesky Nabytek during the 1960's. There were two versions of this piece available - one with a yellow and one with a black opaxite glass. The table has been designed with a careful attention to every detail and has got a simple but dynamic and slender design. The shiny black opaxite glass table top contrasts beautifully with the beech wooden structure. Jiroutek is mainly know for his sideboards range with diferent coloured formica drawers manufactured by Interier Praha but this piece shows Jiroutek's talent to design furniture that is practical, popular and that also becomes iconic.
