Copper Gilded Cherry Blossom Hat Box

This is my favourite chinoiserie inspired design - I've created several of these but the nature of the design means each one is unique; unusually this has no brass cartouche on top. The hatbox is decorated with a beautiful explosion of hand painted cherry blossom - the effect is unashamedly pretty and would work beautifully as a jewellery or make up box in a glamorous bedroom or even make a lovely statement piece in a hallway or lounge. The gilding and painted exterior is protected with several layers of lacquer and the original interior has been thoroughly cleaned, waxed and polished. There is the makers mark Bullitt stamped on the front, along with the date 1912 As with all my vintage pieces, this has bumps and blemishes that reflect its age and previous life, adding to its character and charm - the hat box has a couple of dents to the main body (one at the rear is the most significant) and the lid is raised slightly on one side but does close well and the latch works as it should Offers are not accepted on any original art or reimagined pieces....more
