In the stunning scraffito style that they are known for this beautifully shaped pot/vase was actually made in Germany by Dumler & Breiden for Dee Cee (which is a British company). Later Dee Cee would gain license from D&B to make similar style scraffito vessels themselves here in the UK. The famous D&B stamp in the cross style is stamped on the base along with ‘Mandable’ (handmade) and ‘Made in Germany for DeeCee’. The colours move in the scraffito method (scratching into the surface of the clay) from teal to burgundy on a cream background and it has a grey/black glaze on the inside and up to the top of the rim. The piece has no cracks or chips and is in a lovely condition. A truly beautiful piece of mid century 1960s pottery. It stands 20cm high and 18cm at its widest.
