Fidenza Vetraria smoked glass compote and lidded sugar bowl, Italy from the 1960s This tableware is distinctly modernist, and not decorative like so much of the glass produced by this company. Designed for in the sixties it is often attributed to Joe Colombo, but this is not confirmed or documented. It is the same design as the "Arno" pattern produced by Italora and fabricated by Fidenza Vetraria in the 1960s and 70s. But the ‘Apple wire stand is a later addition - probably to appeal to the traditional Fidenza Vetraria consumer. Good quality heavy glass marked ‘ITALY’ with the makers mark on the base.
