Firstly… sorry about the images, but black is hard to photograph or get close enough to, to portrsy the detail in a photo of the whole item. However, this hand carved ebonised wooden salt and pepper holder in the shape of two blackbirds is truly stunning and the eyes are inlayed with lighter wood adding to the excellent craftsmanship of the gorgeous piece. There are lighter carvings showing the feathers also. The wings are removable and uncover 2 pots for salt and pepper (or whatever you prefer) to be placed. There are also little grooves on the back of the bowl and wings in make room to place small spoons. I was not able to find any information at all on these or find anything like them so they are very unique. However I do believe them to be vintage as there is a lovely patina to them.
