Gerhard Liebenthron German Pottery bottle jug

This piece of brutalist inspired art by German artist Gerhard Liebenthron. Thrown and glazed by hand. Signed and dated on base- 1982. In excellent condition with no damage. From 1945-1951 Liebenthron studied at the Staatliche Kunstschule Bremen (school of arts) in the pottery class of Else Krieg & Dorothea Colberg-Tjadens. in 1951 Liebenthron has been the Assistant of the sculptor Prof. Goersemann there. After Liebenthron finished his time at the Kunstschule he opened his own workshop in the Boettcherstraße, Bremen (in 1952). Gerhard Liebenthron's work can be found in several museums in Germany. the Keramik Museum in Berlin, the Fockemuseum in Bremen and the Hetiens Museum in Düsseldorf for example. He has been a member of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Kunsthandwerk Bremen. Today, LIEBENTHRON is considered one of Germany's most influential and respected industrial designers, and his work continues to inspire designers and creators around the world.
