Grace ~ Hand Painted Antique Oak Bible Trunk

This beautiful antique oak trunk is in a style I haven't seen before - it was described as a bible box so may have come out of a church or chapel. It's been transformed with layers of hand painted leaves and a pair of contemplative ravens set against a gold leaf sun; the interior has been enlivened with aged gold leaf. The leaf has been sealed with lacquer and the wooden surfaces waxed (please note that wax protects but can be damaged with standing liquid or harsh chemicals.) Ravens are lifelong partners so this would be perfect as a gift for someone special or as a trunk to house valued treasures. As with all my vintage pieces this has evidence of its previous life adding to its unique character and charm - the trunk has some dinks and blemishes to the surfaces and there is a small section of wood missing around the right clasp (see picture, I've added a touch of gold leaf here); this doesn't affect its functionality. The internal hinge bar protrudes slightly on the left which again doesn't affect its functionality.
