Home Studio - Mid-Century Swedish Framed Oil

An expressive and brilliantly detailed mid-century composition of an interior setting, executed in oil onto canvas. The setting takes place in a wonderfully ‘lived-in’ home studio, with an interesting array of objects, furniture and artist tools depicted within picture. Painted in an expressionist manner, the artist’s brushstrokes are short and swift, lending an energetic and spontaneous quality to the piece. The loose style of painting further emphasises the immediacy of the moment captured. Although no one is present in the scene, there is a sense the artist has only just left and will return shortly – his or her palette is still visible with paint on, a pot of brushstrokes on the table behind, and a chair immediately in the front of the table.
