Covered rectangular butter dish by Hornsea Pottery in the iconic Bronte pattern. The Bronte range was introduced in 1972 featuring a distinctive pattern, and launched with the tag ‘Hornsea introduces another Heirloom’. Designed by John Clappison, it was produced in a high glazed two tone brown with symmetrical green patterning. This design was inspired by the natural beauty of the Yorkshire countryside and named after the famous Bronte sisters who hailed from that area. This butter dish is marked Hornsea, dated 1975, see photo showing the base. Dimensions (approx): 8.5cm high (overall) x 14.5cm long x 9cm wide.
