Covered rectangular butter dish by Hornsea Pottery in the iconic Saffron pattern. Following the success of the Heirloom range, the Saffron design was introduced by Hornsea in 1970. Designed by John Clappison, it features a distinctive pattern, of caramel-saffron colour circles forming flower motifs on a background of burnt orange. Internally finished in a soft cream colour. This butter dish is marked Hornsea, undated, see photo showing the base. Dimensions (approx): 8.5cm high (overall) x 14.5cm long x 9cm wide. Lovely condition, no cracks or chips, just the usual wear for a piece c 50 years old!...more
