Indian Blackened Brass Vase Mid Century

A beautiful, original mid century Indian oxidized brass vase, c.1960s-70s in date. Very pretty, the vase is heavy brass which has a matte, smooth oxidized finish which has been inlaid with bright gold brass to form lots of overlapping 'cells', each cell with a dot inside- they look like fish or dragon scales! Really lovely, and in excellent vintage condition complete with a little label on the base which reads 'Made in India' with a hand-written item number. The decoration has been done by hand and has all the charm and inconsistency of a handmade item. Approx. 15.5cm tall, the top lip is 5.5cm wide (the opening smaller) and the base is 4cm wide. Around 7cm wide across the rounded middle section. This is a heavy piece. In lovely vintage condition, but there are a few slight cuffs, surface scratches and one tiny (2mm) rust spot- nothing too serious or noticeable. Please see all photos....more
