Isolde by Aubrey Beardsley, from the opera Tristan und Isolde by Richard Wagner, is the female protagonist of a medieval romance centred on an adulterous love triangle. The fantastic art nouveau mirror depicts a dramatic image of women standing in front of a vivid half-length orange curtain, wearing an ornate flowered head covering and holding a large drinking vessel to her mouth in fabulous intricate detail, the picture puts you straight into the scene of theatre show.
