Mid-Century Modern ceramic vase by Bertoncello, and designer Roberto Rigon, 1960s , Italy. The vase uses negative and positive spaces, and abstraction in its design; influenced by Modernist Sculpture of the time - Glazed in a beige terracotta with a sand-like red brown earth pigment texture on a smooth surface that catches and diffuses the light. Rigon is known for his organic shapes, combining design functionality with sculpture form. This vintage earthenware art piece captures this relationship. Bertoncello Ceramiche d'Arte was a mid-century Italian ceramic company that was known for its innovative and sculptural vase designs. The company was founded in 1956 by Giovanni Bertoncello and Marco Pizzato.
