Here is a mirror made by Newton Ltd. in 1951 the last year of King George VI’s reign before he died of lung cancer in 1952. The GR and the crown stamp at the top, matches cutlery that was distributed in army messes during his reign. I believe this mirror was intended to be used in an army barracks in the UK in the soldiers rooms but I cannot find another like it, whether it was made as a celebratory piece from the Festival of Britain or a piece stamped in honour of the king for soldiers, it is certainly a rarity and a great piece of royal and military memorabilia.
