This lovely Scandinavian glass vase with hand painted 'Tulip' design was made by Kosta Boda of Sweden. It is part of their Tulipa range, designed by Ulrica Hydman-Vallien. The vase is signed to the base and still bears the original factory label. Uplifting, exuberant illustrations by Ulrica Hydman Vallien (1938-2017) who was a glass designer for Kosta best known for her hand-painted glass. She started out as a ceramicist but began to specialize in glass after 1972. Her work is held in collections worldwide. I think she was a L’enfant terrible at the studio - and wanted to break out of traditional molds - as a maker and a woman.
