Originally used as a large mortar for grinding spices and other ingredients, this hand carved piece works perfectly as a side table or planter. Turned flat side up, the piece is a great height as a side table or stool. Turned alternately the piece would also make a beautiful, characterful planter. Heavy and very tactile, signs of the maker are present in the markings on the surface of the mortar. It’s an incredibly sculptural stand alone piece. Sourced in the UK.
