Large French Seafood Platter by Longchamp

This wonderful piece comes from Longchamp Ceramics in France. It’s a 1970 updated version of their original seafood platter which dates back to the 1890s. It has 9 outer scallop shell shaped wells (to place your oysters, scallops, Mussels or any choice of seafood) and 3 in the centre (12 total) supported by a basket weave patterning surrounded by a rope-like border. It is a neutral soft cream ceramic and hand painted in a brown tone to highlight the patterning and shells beautifully, bringing great texture to the platter. A stunning and stylish collectible that will bring an elegance to any dinner table. These are selling online for well over a £100 and this is in wonderful condition. There is a little blue dot in the centre of one of the shells due to a glazing anomaly. However, it does not distract and is part of its handmade charm. The diameter is 33cm.
