Large Musa Musa war canoe brow Papua New Guinea
+ free delivery
This stunning large wood carving comes from Papua New Guinea. It came from the collection of the British High Commissioner to the Solomon Islands in the 1980s. It was gifted to him while he was there. Nearly the same piece was gifted to Queen Elizabeth by Solomon islanders which now resides in the Royal collection. Carved from a single piece of hardwood and inlaid with mother of pearl it's a striking piece of tribal art. Originally these would be attached to the brow of a traditional war canoe. dm me with any questions...more
