The ‘Lava Vase’ series stemmed from wanting to turn my sculptures into functional objects whilst keeping the primary element: the form. Each unique coil-built vase illustrates the textures, shapes and colours found in organic objects. Lava is an all consuming natural phenomenon - one that is a threat but one that we can derive aesthetic pleasure from. These vases are an exploration of this experience.
