Lorna Doone Single Tier Cake Stand

A gorgeous single tier cake stand with a Midwinter plate from the Lorna Doone range with very detailed flowers and birds. The plate is really beautiful. A busy design of birds and flowers, leaves and tree branches. Midwinter are highly regarded as a producer of beautiful ceramics from the 1950s from their headquarters in Burslum, Stoke on Trent. Many of their mid-century kitchen ware is now much sought after for it's colourful retro design. The pretty decorative and brightly coloured plate sits on top of a metal stand in silver colour and has a screw holding this in place. It can be removed for washing. The plate is in very nice condition with no scratches, chips or cracks. There is some light crazing on the base but this, as with many vintage pieces, simply adds to it's old charm. The stand is also in good condition, some very slight duller spots but not noticable unless held upside down and close to the eye. Whether buying for a special afternoon tea party, as a gift or to treat yourself, this is a cake stand that will be admired....more
