This is a beautiful small ceramic dish/shallow bowl by renowned studio potter Marianne De Trey (1913- 2016) . A creamy white tin glaze with bands of a mottled glaze and dark chocolate brown. A stylised , almost Japanese like flower motif in the centre . The back is partially glazed and has De Trey’s distinctive shell stamp in the centre. 21cm by 16.5cm 3cm in height. De Trey was Swiss but moved to the UK when she studied at the Royal College of Art. She spent a number of years working in US before moving to studios in Devon in the 1940s. She died in 2016. Her work is sought after - so I have priced this piece accordingly. (I do not know the date as I am not an expert in studio ceramics. ) Beautiful, tactile piece of quality....more
