These Tonala Pottery Owls are made in a long standing method and have a centuries long history as folk art tradition in Mexico. This beautifully handcrafted and painted beauty would have been hand painted in its green, blue, brown and white design all over and most probably signed by the artist at the bottom, but this has been covered, as some of them are, with brass feathers and some copper tail feathers too. This particular one was probably made in the 70s… but is definitely vintage in its making. It’s a stunning piece and stands at 14cm high, 14.5cm long and 7cm wide.
