Mexican Modernist Silver & Abalone Pitcher

Made in the Taxco silver region of Mexico in the 50s this gorgeous piece is attributed to the renowned metalsmith and maestro Salvador Teran, who created tableware and jewellery. It’s made from Taxco silver and covered in abalone shells which change colour in different light (photos do not do full justice). This piece is very rare and extremely collectible…. a wonderful bit of art history to own . It is in great condition for its age (all shells are very much intact and secure) and could be used as intended, but due to its nature and age, I would recommend using it as such very rarely. It’s a stunning piece to have on display anywhere in the home, especially bringing beauty and conversation if displayed on a bar. Note: There are also 4 matching tall tumblers in a separate post to follow. To clean use a bit of soapy water and rinse. It stands at 22cm and is 14.5 across at handle or 11cm for the vessel. the opening at top is 8.5cm wide. The piece is not signed, as was common with Salvador Teran, but does show the mark Taxco.
