A mid century teak sideboard / credenza by Portsmouth based White & Newton in the 1960s. White & Newton products are always of a high standard and this example is no different. Featuring three well built drawers with plenty of space, and a large compartment hidden behind two sleek sliding doors. While it’s not a small piece, it’s not as big as some, meaning it’s likely to fit in more modest sized rooms. There are several signs of the quality of this piece, including the use of solid Afromosia to contrast the teak veneers, a solid Afromosia under frame and legs, as well as a rare beech-clad interior for a classic Scandinavian look. There’s also signs of wear and tear, a life well lived! But these are the reasons for buying vintage furniture, character that you can’t get if you buy new!
