1950’s 5 drawer chest by Lebus Furniture for the War Department, UK. Oak construction throughout with 2 short drawers over 3 larger ones below. All with darker oak carved pulls. Each drawer has superb dove tail jointing The cabinet sitting on four oak robust legs that are part of the main body Manufacturers stamp & War Department embossed crown to rear. Very well made and lots of character A wonderful piece with lovely patina which would sit well in any style of home. Either on a hallway, bedroom, living or kitchen, the possibilities are endlessness. The chest provides a lot of storage capacity The cabinet is a military piece of furniture and to the back is fully marked with the royal crown along with the initials WD for the war department and dated 1954. Condition: Restored condition Chest is in very solid condition with signs of use. (mostly on its top) The chest has been rubbed back and refinished with hardwax oil. Drawers clean throughout with minimum wear, run smoothly.
